Rules for Abstract Submission for the 12th PTKT Congress in Kraków: May 26-28, 2025

 General Provisions

  1. During the PTKT Congress, the organizers will provide scientific sessions allowing doctors and researchers to present their work aligned with the theme of the Congress:
    a) Oral Session for Young Scientists – this involves presenting a paper with a slide presentation (7 minutes + 3 minutes of discussion). The first author, who must also be the presenter, should be a doctor in training for cardiothoracic surgery, under the age of 35. The best works will be selected for presentation during the plenary session. After the presentation, the committee will designate works to be FINANCIALLY AWARDED.
    b) Poster Session – involves preparing a poster in the format specified by the organizer. There are no age restrictions for authors. The best posters will also receive FINANCIAL AWARDS.

  2. The organizers invite you to submit an abstract of your work for review, and after successful verification, present it during the Congress.

  3. The organizers will decide on the acceptance of the work for presentation, its format, and the timing of the presentation.

  4. By participating in collaboration with the organizers as indicated above, each author of a work:
    a) Consents to the printing or other forms of publication of the submitted abstract in the materials and supplements issued for the Congress and, therefore, agrees to the publication of the authors’ names and affiliations.
    b) Confirms that all authors of the abstract agree with the content and conclusions presented in the submitted abstract, and that it is an original work that does not violate the copyright of others.

Submission of Abstracts and Qualification Rules for Presentations During the Congress

  1. Abstracts will only be reviewed if submitted electronically via the Congress website by February 28, 2025, and meet the technical, structural, and thematic requirements outlined in these regulations.
  2. Each abstract will be reviewed by members of the PTKT Board.
  3. Until the submission deadline, there is an opportunity to correct and resubmit a new version of the abstract.
  4. When submitting an abstract, authors should select their preferred presentation method. However, the final decision regarding the acceptance of the work and qualification for a poster or oral presentation will be made by the Scientific Committee. This decision will consider both the author’s preference and organizational considerations. The decision will be communicated electronically to the submitting author’s provided email address.
  5. Authors will be informed by April 10, 2025, whether their work has been accepted or rejected via email to the address provided when submitting the abstract. Accepted authors will receive a detailed schedule of presentations along with necessary technical and logistical information.
  6. A condition for presenting the work is the registration of at least the presenting author for the Congress.

Technical Requirements for Submitted Abstracts

  1. The abstract must meet the following technical requirements:
    a) Language: Polish or English
    b) Document format: Microsoft WORD (*doc, *docx)
    c) Font: Times New Roman
    d) Font size: 12
    e) Line spacing: 1.5
    f) Maximum number of characters in the abstract body: 1800 (including spaces)

Structural Requirements for Submitted Abstracts
2. The abstract should include the following elements, in the order listed:
a) Abstract title,
b) List of authors, with the presenting author underlined,
c) Authors' affiliations,
d) Abstract content. The standard content should include the following sections: INTRODUCTION, OBJECTIVE, RESEARCH METHODS, RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS,
e) Information about conflicts of interest for the author/authors.

Authors qualified for presentation will be individually informed about how to prepare the specified presentation (both for oral and poster presentations).

  1. The administrators of your personal data are the Organizers and the Organizing Office.
  2. According to applicable law, your consent to the processing of your personal data is necessary for the successful submission and registration of the abstract and later handling of its review and presentation.
  3. Based on Article 13 of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons concerning the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, we inform you about the rules for processing your data.
  4. The organizer processes your data for the following purposes:
    a) Reviewing and qualifying the abstract for appropriate presentation during the Congress,
    b) Correspondence with the abstract submitter regarding the status of the abstract and in case of doubts or requests for clarification from the reviewers,
    c) If the work is accepted for presentation, to enable the presentation and publication of the abstract in the indicated materials (concerning the authors' names, affiliations).
